Brussels is surprisingly pleasant to visit, and live in. Both the old town center and the areas outside of the main district are incredibly charming. You walk from one market square to the other, with many small shops, breweries, bars and restaurants.
And when strolling through our streets, you often unexpectedly stumble upon some of the most beautiful Art-nouveau & deco houses ever built.
It is also a multilayered city. There is a complexity to it due to its history in which it tried to unite the French and Dutch speaking sides of Belgium. There is our colonial history with Congo as well, which is still relevant. Finally, we’re the capital city of Europe.
